I got a phone call from my friend, Henry, who recently moved back to Taiwan to wish me a happy birthday. It totally brightened my already good day! Thanks, Henry! :) - I actually don’t have a photo of him!! I don’t know how I went 5 years w/o ever taking his photo! So I took a photo of my phone. :)

Toni and I exchanged gifts tonight and this was my fav. :) I had mentioned wanting to collect old milk bottles once in an antique store, so she got some w/ my name on them… kind of. Brooke-siiiiiiiiii-eeeeed. I love ‘em!

I found this stock photography site - Stock That Doesn’t Suck - and as I was scanning through, I was thinking about how great their photos were. Then I came across this photo that looks a lot similar to one that I took while I was in New York… and I actually like mine better! It probably isn’t better, but I think it is and it made me happy to think that maybe my photos could be on a stock site someday. :)
Even though working between Christmas and New Years sucks… the drive to and from work during that week is WOOOOOONDERFUL! No one is on the road - I got home in 25 minutes today! (it usually takes 40-60) Yay for everyone else who is on vacation and off the roads! :)
I went for a much needed haircut tonight. If I were rich, I’d get a haircut every week! It’s the best feeling… and smelling of Aveda afterwards is an added bonus. :) The photo made me laugh b/c I look like Holly Hobbie… w/o the bonnet. :)
I’d been planning for a week to post a picture of my friend, Charlie, who is home from Iraq and who was planning on coming down to visit all of us tonight. Unfortunately, he was called back to duty early. I decided to post some old photos anyway - please keep him in your thoughts and prayers (as well as my brother and everyone else over there).
This is a really old photo and I don’t even know where it came from or where it was taken… I think it was probably about 6 years ago-we look so young. :)

What made me happiest today was having the day off! :D I’ve gotten so much done; I watched a movie (movies in bed in the morning always make me happy), took down my hideous christmas tree, vaccumed, finished up some freelance work, did the dishes, went to the grocery, made myself a “dang ques-a-dill-a” (napoleon dynamite style), worked more on finishing up the paint job in my spare bathroom and I still have the rest of the evening!

I was given this quesadilla maker two years ago for christmas, and today was the first time I used it. ha It smelled just like my crimper back in the 80’s!!! :)
The most exciting part of having a week day off is catching Oprah.
I could take photos of all of my great gifts, but what made me happiest was having the entire family together, with the exception of my brother who is in Iraq. We’re not really a photo-taking type of family, so no photos. (sorry) Oh, and having left-over cookies to bring home. :) mmmm
My mom has passed on the sugar cookie duties to me. This batch took a whole bag of powdered sugar!! They’re pretty tasty other than the burnt points on the stars. :(
I had to run to the grocery for some pecan pie ingredients - I figured Marsh would be the quickest to get in and out. I LOVE this Marsh… it looks just like all the Marshes did when I was 5 years old and a member of the Marsh Monster Cookie Club. It’s from the days where women wore curlers to the grocery, where people had stacks of coupons like 30¢ off peanut butter or 50¢ off Tide, you see neighbors waving hello and asking about Bobbi Sue and baggers were a necessity… and were CUTE too! I’ve seen all of these things at that Marsh! I absolutely love it! Don’t get me wrong, those new fancy Marshes w/ separate rooms for each department and a coffee shop in the middle are nice, but this is just FUN! :)
One wasn’t enough… we had to go back for more… and two weeks was TOO LONG of a wait for one of these!
Call me old fashioned, but I LOVE these signs that go across the road. Doesn’t matter what they are for, they remind me of the “old days.” Greenfield always puts one up for thier Riley Days event and it looks real old school! Love it.

We were realeased at 3 today!!! :) So what did I do? I went SHOPPING, of course! And I am happy to say that I am 100% finished w/ my christmas shopping.
I took a photo of my express bag to say how much I love them and their sales, and somehow by trying to make the bag more interesting, I came up w/ this… you can’t really tell what it is and it doesn’t quite look anything like it… but thought it was kinda cool. :)
Maybe I’m a bit obsessed w/ trees and sunsets lately… I grew up w/ a woods in my backyard, so I’ve always had a fondness for trees. Snow and/or ice on trees will hopefully be something you’ll be seeing on here soon! 3 days - fingers crossed!
Last, but definately not least, my LOUD upstairs neighbors have been gone since Saturday… it has been quite lovely!!! :)
I just got around to checking out the itunes free download of the week and to my delight, it was Sujan Stevens!!! A friend told me about him about a year ago and at first, I didn’t really like him, but the more I listen the more my love affair grows! ;) Check him out, it’s free! :)
And of course, my adorable niece. :)
On my way to my brother’s in-law’s house tonight for dinner, I saw this over-the-top house and had to take a photo! It reminded me of the days when my family would drive around to look at christmas lights and my brother would mock my mom saying “hold me back! hold me back!”… you probably had to be there to understand just how funny it was.
Then I got to see my sister-in-law and my baby niece!!! She has gotten so big and was oh-so-adorable tonight! The photos are bad - sorry - I forgot my flash was off when I gave my camera to my stepdad. oops! How cute is her hair?!!! :)

Baking always makes me happy… well, except for the clean up! Everyone has been bringing in christmas goodies at work, so I figured it was my turn. Chocolate Candy Cane Cupcakes… yum!
I woke up HUNGRY this morning… and I hadn’t had a donut in… I can’t even remember when… so I headed to the closest bakery and picked some up. My mom called on my way there to ask if I wanted to get lunch… so I did both. :) I gave her one though so I wouldn’t feel so guilty! :)
